dc.description.abstractThis study addresses the phonology of vowels in modern Arabic phonetic studies through the analysis of samples from contemporary phonetic works, aiming to reveal the nature of phonological conceptions of vowels and their functions within the linguistic system. The study focused on highlighting the role of vowels in syllable structure, stress organization, and the distinction between meanings, in addition to their relationship with morphological structure. The study relied on the descriptive and comparative analytical approach. In the theoretical aspect, it presented a precisetreatment of concepts related to phonology and vowels, while the applied aspect was devoted to analyzing methods of dealing with vowels in the selected works. The study concluded that vowels represent essential phonological units that perform multiple functions within the language, and that their treatment in modern Arabic phonetic studies is characterized by a combination of descriptive and phonological approachesen_US
