The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of salt stress induced by different concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl) (ranging from 0 to 15 g/l) on the morphological and anatomical parameters of sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L., 'Super Marconi' variety) at the seedling stage. The morphological results show a significant and progressive reduction in stem length and leaf number proportional to the increase in salinity. Conversely, root length exhibited a slight increase at a low saline concentration (2.5 g/l), reflecting an adaptive strategy to osmotic deficit, before declining at higher doses. Anatomically, stem cross-sections revealed a decrease in the thickness of the epidermis, outer cortex (exodermis), and vascular tissues, accompanied by a compensatory hypertrophy of the inner cortex (endodermis) acting as a protective barrier.Tissue necrosis and loss of intercellular spaces appeared at higher concentrations. In conclusion, the 'Super Marconi' variety is moderately sensitive to salinity, tolerating doses up to 5 g/l of NaCl, beyond which severe structural and morphological damages compromise its growthen_US
