The establishment of the judge responsible for the execution of sentences in Algerian legislation constitutes one of the most significant aspects of the evolution of contemporary criminal policy. The legislature has shifted from a traditional, purely deterrent approach to a reformist policy aimed at rehabilitating and reintegrating offenders into society, in accordance with constitutional principles and international human rights standards. Law 25/14 strengthened the role of the judge responsible for the execution of sentences, granting them broad powers to enforce and adjust sentences. This judge carries out their duties in coordination with judicial authorities and prison institutions to ensure the proper execution of court decisions. Among their main functions are decisions granting offenders discretionary sentencing options such as parole, semi-liberty, community service, and electronic monitoring, with the aim of individualizing the criminal justice system. The judge also possesses numerous advisory and oversight powers that help reconcile the protection of society with the rehabilitation of offenders. Consequently, the judge responsible for the execution of sentences is considered one of the most important actors in the criminal enforcement phase, as they contribute to strengthening the human nature of punishment and work towards establishing an effective criminal policy that protects society from crime through social rehabilitation and the continued detention of prisoners.en_US
