Abstract: This thesis falls within the field of foreign language didactics and aims to analyze the impact of machine translation on the learning of didactic translation among third-year French language undergraduate students. Given the rapid development of technology and the increasing use of machine translation tools, this study seeks to understand how these tools confluence learners 'practices and their acquisition of linguistic and extra-linguistic skills. Based on this problematic, several questions were formulated regarding students' awareness of the objectives of didactic translation, their methods of using technological tools, and the influence of these tools on their learning. To address these questions, our work is structured into two parts : a theoretical part consisting of two main chapters presenting the fundamental concepts of translation, machine translation and its types (statistical, neural, and hybrid), translator tools, as well as didactic translation and its pedagogical approaches; and a practical part based on a field survey conducted among students using a questionnaire, followed by a critical analysis of the official teaching program. The results show that students frequently use machine translation tools to save time; however, this unguided use can limit the development of their linguistic, as well as extralinguistic skills. Thus, this research highlights the necessity of integrating these tools houghtfully into pedagogical practices.
