Abstract

This dissertation investigates the poetic vision in Kharijite poetry as a distinctive phenomenon within early Arabic-Islamic literature. It is based on the assumption that Kharijite poetry was not merely a reflection of political and doctrinal positions, but rather an integrated literary discourse embodying a coherent intellectual and emotional vision that shaped its thematic and artistic features. The study aims to identify the characteristics of this poetic vision and explore its manifestations in Kharijite poetic texts by examining their relationship with the political, social, and religious context in which they emerged. It also seeks to reveal the influence of doctrinal and intellect. ual references on the formation of Kharijite poetic thought and to highlight the artistic mechanisms through which this vision was expressed. To achieve these objectives, the research adopts an integrative methodology combining historical, analytical, and thematic approaches. The study is divided into a theoretical part, which discusses the concept of poetic vision and introduces the Kharijite movement and its major poets, and an applied part devoted to analyzing the intellectual and artistic dimensions of Kharijite poetry. The findings demonstrate that Kharijite poetry reflects a coherent poetic vision shaped by specific political and ideological circumstances. This vision is manifested in the poets’ attitudes toward religion, reality, the Other, life, and death. The study also reveals that artistic formation was closely connected to this vision and played a vital role in expressing its intellectual and emotional dimensions through poetic imagery, diction, semantic fields, and rhythmic structures. Ultimately, the research confirms the literary and aesthetic value of Kharijite poetry and its significant contribution to the enrichment of Arabic-Islamic literary heritage.
